Job Description

Our client is a global leader in fruit processing and they are the largest family owned French company and have their headquarters in SW France. Their products are sold in more than 100 countries and they have 25 factories worldwide.

Within the UK their products are jams, preserves and chilled desserts and are sold through all the major food retailers and industrial channels. They have seen significant growth over recent years and the business now requires additional talent to continue its ambitious growth plans.

To support this growth, they are looking to recruit a Project Manager to be based from their site in Frome, Somerset.

Reporting to the Innovation Manager this role supports the development and optimization of the company’s product range in line with the strategy defined for the business.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the new products launch projects, from the initial concept to industrialisation in conjunction with the company’s other departments: marketing, technical, purchasing, production and following the NPD procedure.

  • Create and manage critical paths for each project and co-ordinate such project by liaising with colleagues, customers and service providers in order to meet agreed deadlines.

  • To effectively manage end to end packaging development with right process and legal checks through to sign off.

  • Customer visits – support Commercial team during submission of new products. 

  • Develop products, either pro-actively or in response to customer briefs, within the cost range given by marketing and provide the relevant documentation in liaison with Quality and marketing.

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure new products, processes and ingredients. Meet production, quality and legal requirements.

  • Manage the organisation of the industrial trials, communicate the results, actions/improvements to be carried out and follow up on them. Ensure the products will be produced in the normal conditions on the current equipment, raise and communicate any concerns about possible difficulties.

  • Understand and know how to use the pilot plant and development lab, suggest improvements and notify breakdowns/malfunctions.

  • Give all the information to the production department, train staff and implement/update work instructions and documents to enable the manufacturing of the new products in the best possible conditions.

  • Assist factory to resolve any problems arising from product recipe and process

 

 

 

 

Qualifications
  • A Degree in food technology or food science

  • At least 5 years relevant Dairy and NPD experience within the food industry working in an NPD or production environment.

  • Detailed project manager experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

  • Prioritisation and handling complexity: capacity and capability to lead and deliver multiple projects in parallel.

  • A Hands-on attitude with the ability to work unsupervised and achieve results within tight deadlines.

  • Experience of working for major retailers.

  • Passionate about food and innovation

  • Fast learning with an ability to assimilate new information and knowledge efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment
